I arrived in South Africa when it was still winter but already wonderful 18 degrees. The other volunteers, mostly German, were very welcoming and i felt comfortable in our well-equipped volunteer house.

In the morning we started to drive through the reserve with our safari jeep and our ranger Jarrett who explains nature and wildlife very well. There was no cultural shock in the reserve but in the townships which really show the other side of south africa. here I recommend the township tour to get more about the everyday life and history of the townships.

At the weekend I took part in the rhino run or went for a weekend trip to Plettenberg Bay where I snorkeled with seals or watched whales. Generally, I had an amazing time in South Africa which was super enriching and also engaging to take responsibility as a conservationist.
