They offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes English, Math, arts and crafts, sports, and environmental education. The little ones learn to read, write, and express themselves creatively through dance, song, and play. Their infectious enthusiasm and bright smiles make every day a joy.

Project information:

Introduction:

Join our project and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children in Windhoek. Your role will be instrumental in supporting teachers and fostering a nurturing learning environment.

In the afternoons, older children return from secondary school in Windhoek. Your involvement in their homework and leisure activities will provide invaluable support and guidance.

By engaging with these young people, you’ll create lasting memories and help them develop essential skills, including English proficiency, which will open doors to future opportunities.

Volunteer tasks: 
  • Assisting in the classroom
  • Assisting with the development & making of classroom material like posters or games
  • Afternoons assistance with homework
  • Assistance with the development of the children’s English language skills
  • Supervision during playtime
  • Playing games with the children
  • Assist with playground & classroom cleaning
  • Sharing skills like teaching children drama, dancing, music, or arts.
  • Sharing skills in terms of a sport like football etc.
Volunteer working hours:

The work schedule is quite flexible, but the following can be used as a guideline:

  • 08:00 – 13:00 and the after school from 15:00 – 17:00
Accommodation:

The project offers two comfortable accommodation options for volunteers:

Volunteer Rooms:
  • Up to 3 people of the same sex per room
  • Comfortable beds with bedding and pillows provided
  • Shared bathroom facilities with hot showers (powered by solar energy!)
Large Tented Accommodation:
  • Ideal for couples or 2 people of the same sex
  • Experience the thrill of living amidst the wilderness
What to Expect:
  • Shared accommodation with comfortable amenities
  • Electricity available in common areas
  • Remember, you’ll be living in a beautiful wilderness setting. Be prepared to adapt and enjoy the unique experience!
Meals:

The project provides nourishing meals throughout your stay:

  • Breakfast: Start your day with energizing options like bread and cereals.
  • Lunch: Power through your volunteer duties with delicious options like pasta, wraps, or burgers.
  • Dinner: Savor hearty meals featuring fish, meat, vegetables, rice, and potatoes.

Dietary Needs: The project caters to special dietary requirements. Please inform us when you apply.

Renowned as one of the world’s premier whale-watching destinations, this charming town boasts a diverse marine ecosystem and a vibrant local culture.

Marine Marvels and Whale Watching

Hermanus is synonymous with whale watching, attracting visitors from far and wide to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. From July to November, Southern right whales migrate to the area to calve and mate, providing an unforgettable spectacle for nature enthusiasts. In addition to whales, Hermanus’ waters are teeming with a variety of marine life, including dolphins, seals, and penguins.

A Culinary Journey

Hermanus’ culinary scene is as diverse as its marine life. Indulge in fresh seafood delicacies, from succulent oysters and linefish to hearty seafood curries. 1. Complete application form and confirm booking details

Complete our simple application form. One of our dedicated travel experts will contact you within 24 hours to discuss your dream South African holiday and confirm your travel preferences. Once we’ve finalized the details, we’ll provide a provisional booking confirmation.

2. Provisional confirmation, invoice, and contract

Once your placement is provisionally confirmed, we’ll send you our invoice and contractual agreement. To secure your booking, please return the completed agreement and make the required deposit payment.

3. Booking confirmation

Upon receipt of your deposit payment and completed contractual agreement, we’ll send you an updated invoice (reflecting your deposit), a confirmation letter detailing your trip details, and a comprehensive volunteering handbook.

We’ll also provide guidelines for booking your flights and any necessary additional transportation during your stay.

4. Balance payment, flights, and insurance

The remaining balance of your invoice is due one month before your arrival. Please send us a copy of your flight details and insurance before you depart.
