What you can expect:

Administrative work:
Administrative work in social services involves a wide range of tasks, including record-keeping, data entry, reporting, scheduling, communication, human resources, and compliance.
Gain strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure the efficient operation of social service agencies.

Participate in meetings and sessions:
As a social work intern, you will participate in support and information meetings, as well as one-on-one supervision sessions. These meetings will provide you with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals, receive guidance and feedback, and discuss your experiences and challenges.

Adult and children support groups:
You will have the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families by assisting with the facilitation of support groups for adults and children. You will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment where participants can share their experiences, receive support, and develop coping skills.
This experience will provide you with valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals and families, and help you to develop your skills as a social worker.

Contribute to community awareness campaigns:
The opportunity to contribute to community awareness campaigns that address important social issues. You will work with community members and organizations to develop and implement campaigns that raise awareness, educate the public, and encourage action. This experience will provide you with valuable skills in community engagement, advocacy, and social justice.
Where you will stay
Your home away from home
During your internship, you will stay at the project house located in Hawston, a short distance from Hermanus. The house offers shared and private rooms, along with shared living and dining spaces and a fully equipped kitchen.
Nourished and refreshed
During your stay at the project house, you will receive three meals per day. Breakfast will be self-serve, lunches will be either packed or provided, and dinners will be cooked meals.
